Default $ 8.79 Screw

What ever you do, don't drop the screw that holds the 3rd brake light. It may look like a normal small screw but the dealer wants $8.79 for it . After the mild stroke, they came down to $6.00 . Told them thanks, but no thanks. Walking out the show room a red 2007 Z06 caught my eye. Window sticker was 78K, salesman came over and was telling me how limited they are and he could let me have it at a special deal for only 89k . Little voice in my head said, Run Forest Run !!!!!!!!!!!! Went to Ace hardware, .32 cents . While at Ace I found the screws that go around the fenders in chrome tint with the ring on them for .34 . I'll take some pics and post them tomorrow.

My wife had the state inspection done on her Envoy. They told her one of the brake lights was out and it needed to be replaced. I was out of town on a fishing trip, so I couldn't do it. She figures what the hell, and lets them do it while they are inspecting it. She gets the bill for $23 just for the brake light. True stealership at it best. Never again.

This folks is why I bought a two post lift and put it in my shop. I got tired of the the "stealership" BS. The lift has paid for itself many times over. I also do not buy parts at the dealers unles absolutely necessary. (And that is almost never)

It's doesn't take very long at $105 an hour to spend $23.

You're dealership wanted to sell you a screw for only $8.79??? Last time my dealership sold me a screw, it costs $249.00 and they still haven't returned my calls or even emailed me. I feel so cheap but they did leave a mint on my seat.

another classic stealership rip-off. when my rear spring bolt broke, chevy chraged me like $20.00 for the bolt, about $6.00 for the nut, and about $4 for the retaining clip

i ended up buying a better grade bolt/nut at ace for about $5 total.

I needed the plastic plug thing that fits into the plastic shroud that goes around the pop up headlight (C5). The 2 inch plastic disk comes out to allow a screwdriver (actualy torx) to slip in there and adjust the lights. Mine fell out...ok fine, I didn't put it back in properly when doing my HID's..... Not something ACE sells.....but GM manages to get $6 for it.

Just another example of why car salesman have gained the long standing notoriety they have. Not to say it's not an honorable profession but it shares company with and rates right down there with some of the most non trustworthy vermin on the planet.

A national poll was taken and here are the full results of trust in professions are:

Firefighters - 97%
Pharmacists - 96%
Airline pilots - 95%
Nurses - 94%
Doctors - 91%
Teachers - 83%
Police - 74%
Taxi drivers - 49%
Financial advisor's - 40%
Journalists - 17%
Lawyers - 11%
Politicians - 8%
Car salesmen - 7%

ive got all this beat. how about a $795 pin. i replaced a headlight gear and about a week later i noticed that my headlight was jumping up and down going down the road. i took it apart again and the pin that holds the motor arm to the hd assym. was gone. so i thought i would bite the bullet and let the stealership get me for a 10 spot. told them what i needed and they pulled up the exploded pic and told me 795. WTF? told me i had to buy entire assym. went to lowes right across the street and got the exact pin for .79- BOOTY UP

Sometimes parts prices at dealerships are just . I always check with an auto parts store and use the dealership parts department as a last resort.

Sometimes the dealer is the only place to source needed parts.
