I had post about my new hawk pads, and just wanted to send out an update. They stop the car great, but make so much noise that i have taken them off and tossed them in the trash with about 100 miles on them. I replace them with acdelco pads. Now i can drive my Black C5 and people look at it because it look good, not because it sounds like a pig caught in a trap. If anyone is thinking about buying new pads, don't buy Hawk.

I had and did the same thing. Wasn't impressed with the noise of the HAWKS.
I have Hawk HPS pads and have not heard them squeak once. I also replaced my rotors at the same time. They have great stopping power and little brake dust. Dig them out of the trash and send them my way.
Another thing that baffles me is the dust comments I see. When I went from the ACDELCO (not much dust) to the HAWKS the dust was horrible as well as the squeaking. Now I am back to ACDELCO and have little dusk and squaking.
Given proper break-in and a clean rotor surface to mate with they shouldn't have made noise. I run the HP+ which are even more aggressive than the HPS and they make noise, but nothing horrible...
Also keep in mind to buy the pads that are engineered for what you want out of them.. i.e. don't buy a performance pad for a garage queen or daily driver that you wax more than drive. On the same hand don't buy a ceramic pad for a car that is going to be seeing constant track abuse or hard spirited driving on the street...
If you want a long-lasting, quiet, low-dust pad go ceramic but don't complain about the poor performance and brake fade under stress. If you want hard-biting, high-temp, low-fad pads go with a pad similar to the HP+ but don't complain about the noise or dust...

I want a long-lasting, quiet, low-dust, hard-biting, high temp, low-fade pad. Anybody makes those???????
I have Hawk pads on my C5, and they squeaked horribly for the first few hundred miles, and now I will get a very occasional squeal on a hard stop, but that's it. I guess you have to break them in thoroughly.
I love my Hawk pads. I have a few thousand miles on them. They squeel only every once in a while, but it's worth it for the performance. I will be getting more when I blow through these.
Always replace or turn your rotors when you put a new pad on...

I put HP+ pads on my track car and ran them for the first time on the track this past weekend. When I broke them in the other night I couldn't believe how well they stopped compared to the stock pads I didn't notice much dust and just a little squeek on the drive home.
After running them on the track there was a ton of brake dust but they stopped great the whole day (4 30-minute sessions a day). I don't remember any noise from them.
I've got the Hawk HPS pads on my car, no noise. As a precaution, I sprayed the back side of each pad with Permatex "Disc Brake Quiet". It's like putting a thin, tacky, rubber coating on the back side.
