Hey guys, Anyone having problems with the horn. I'm having problems with my horn blowing once or twice after repeated presure. I will push the wheel location a few time with nothing happening a then after a few attempts it works again. Is this a small problem or some major repair work needed.
I think it is a common problem. Mine was doing that along with going off by itself and then it blew the fuse (twice). I have heard there is a problem with the contacts in the steering wheel/air bag area shorting?

just hope that the problem does not exist in the switch for the horn in the streering wheel because it is very expensixe to fix since the switch is incorporated with the airbag case..

Same problem with mine .......... finally took it in to get fixed after someone cut me off on the interstate and I had NO horn
Ended up being a defective turn signal cancel cam that was fixed under warranty. The part was like $7 but NO way I was doing myself given that it involved removing the airbag assembly.

I did the job myself and got the part from Gene over at GMpartshouse.com.
Yeah, it was quite the job. Getting the steering wheel off was probably the most difficult part as it seemed like it was welded on.
Most of the time, though it's the airbag contacts. You could get lucky and find a blow airbag and replace contacts. They are in a film that is pressure sensitive.
I assume the heat causes the failure, so make sure you put up a sun blocker to keep the heat out and maybe crack the windows.
A little off subject, but does anyone else think it is a lot harder to honk the horns on today's vehicles than it should be? There used to be a ring that was easy to locate and actuate the horn, or the entire center was the horn. Now half the time you can't hit it in the right place or you have to do it a couple of times to get it to honk. By the time it works it is too late.

That's because the airbag is now where the horn use to be. It's that way on all vehicles.
[BThanks, I'll try the cheaper answer first and then move on if that don't work, Thanks and yes by the time you get the horn working you don't need it any more.
