Hello all,
My wife and I are still getting used to the reactions from other drivers when we are out in our "new" 98 convertible. Last evening we were on a leisurely cruise in a 30 mph zone when we noticed an oncoming pick-up with a lady leaning at least half-way out the passengers window giving us a thumbs up......it was really cool, but frankly we were worried that she was going to fall out. By the by, we both returned the thumbs up! Is this behavior normal from non-corvette drivers?

sometimes when I'm driving my truck I'll wave to other people driving corvettes and they'll look at me funny and then I remember I'm not driving my car
It is really bizarre, in a cool way. The wave always gets me...how does everyone just KNOW to do that? And how the heck did I know to do it too? Is it in our DNA? Hmmm...this is one for "Coast to Coast AM with George Noory."
I was cruising up the pacific coast highway once and these kids in a huge lifted truck were in front holding there cameras out the window taking video/pictures of my ride. They finally stopped, I kept going up the highway, then pulled over for some scenery and here comes these guys again with the cameras out the window. it made me and my girl laugh
I don't have a Vette yet. I usually don't do it when passing just because I think the vette driver would be wondering what's going on or something. If I am next to one at a stop light or something then I usually give the thumbs up or if the windows are open just say Nice Car.
Get used to getting lots of attention. After all, you do drive a Vette. Some will be smartazzes wanting to race, most will be just people that admire a great looking automobile. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your "new" Vette.
