Default Renew my GMPP?

I have till July 26th to renew my GMPP on my '02 vert with 55k.

The cost is nearly $2,000. I have only used the GMPP one time since I signed on nearly 3 years ago.

Any thoughts?

Dennis is a stand-up guy -- no gouging or BS from him! I bought my GMPP from him. Good luck!

When I purchased my GMPP from the dealership, it had 32K on the odometer, and I paid $1200 fo three years with 0 deductible. It has paid itself off in spades, and I would never have bought the car if I couldn't get an extended warranty. Now, it's time to renew.

This is what Dennis quoted me for my 2000 w 47K on the odometer. And yes, I know he's a stand up guy, and he walks on water but, I was stunned he was this high.

Trick for most GM owners is to buy the GMPP before you get to 24,000 miles. Price is about 45% of those over 24,000 miles.

If you are transfering from another owner, there must be 3 months and 3,000 miles left under the GMPP.

It's a hard call...I posted on here a similar question...but mostly
only people who used their warranty responded. Seems people
are either dead set against the warranties...or they wouldn't
think of buying a car without one.

Just saw car for sale w/ 80,000 miles and the guy had never
used his GMPP warranty. Only had to change the oil.

If you can get it at a cheaper price, might be a good investment. One repair on these cars can cost a bundle.

Holy cow... only one time. You must have gotten a really good vette. In one year of ownership of a vette that only had 25K miles on it, I have had four problems with the car. Fortunately, thanks to this awesome forum, I was able to fix three out of the four myself.

If you don't have any major mod's (e.g. a supercharger, h/c), I would seriously consider renewing.

Thanks for all the replies.

I bought the first GMPP from Dennis and that was the price for the renewal from Dennis.

I was mostly looking for if the warranty would pay for itself. In other words what is going to go wrong in the next 36,000 miles that I should consider the warranty. I originally purchased the warranty mainly because I was used to having a warranty and thought that I needed one. I had a '99 and now this '02. Nothing major to be concerned about service wise.

I currently have two issues to be fixed and another that I am concered about. The headlight gear on the left has gone and the antenna needs to be replaced. Also a concern is that whenever I engage the clutch I hear a small click almost like the universal joint has gone bad.

Thanks again for all who responded.

Brad

What kind of issues did you have?

I've never heard this. So does this apply to renewing a GMPP before it turns 24K.

Jet Jock

I will post again: You can extend a current GMPP policy that you have as long as you have 3 months AND 3,000 miles left of the GMPP plan
GM did not really do any mailouts, ads, etc to let previous owners know this so I post as often as I can to remind customers that have 00-01-02's that this can be done.

Email me your VIN and miles to gmpp@fichtnerchevrolet.com and I will look to see if you can extend your GMPP.
