Default Coated thin-spokes

Which is the best way to maintain these? All i read in the car care section is people stripping the clear then doing a high polish. Too much salt in my are to want to strip my wheels. Which products could i get to siplify the task of cleaning and polishing?

I tell my customers to treat your wheels just as you would treat the painted surface of your car. Wash with separate mitt, wax/ polish with your favorite brand. Keep the wheels clean, even if you don't need to wash the whole car just do the wheels. Once the brake dust begins to etch the clear coat there's not much you can do other than refinishing them. Hope that helps..... Bill

When I had my high polished wheels, I simply cleaned them with soap and water then used the same car wax I used on my paint to keep them protected.

There is really nothing you can do. Wax them is about it.

Were all the high polish thin spokes clear coated?

Keep a good coat of high quality car wax on them. Then clean them often.

Keeping them clean and waxed up makes all the difference in the world. They will clean up easier and they look soooo much better when really clean.

Every winter I say I am going to take the wheels off one at a time, one each weekend and bring them to the basement and wash and wax each one on the work bench where it is warm and I would be able to do it with such detail! Well I haven't done it yet ! maybe this winter?

Mine look great 3 ft away, but I notice some very minor scratches when washing them. I've already waxed them, any tips for smoothing them out some?

It's not as bad as it seems, and very worthwhile.

No, no, no! IMHO, polished aluminum looks like a REAL high performance wheel, chrome looks like fake high performance. Also, the polished factory wheels are covered in a clear coat anyway, so it's MUCH easier to maintain than just a polished aluminum wheel. I'm not so sure you'd have much less maintenance with a chrome wheel, since you'd still want to wash and polish them once in awhile.

On the other hand, if you LIKE chrome, that's another story.

Chrome would be a VERY bad idea then, stick with what you have. Chrome and salt don't get along!

Wash and wax, especially the inner wheel.
