I know this is a great site to find out "how to" and I use it all the time for mods, but I can't get over the number of posts for stuff wrong with the c-5s! I have never ( knock on wood ) had any warranty or any other problems with my 03 Z other than replacing the tires! There must be others out there cause I think in general they are great cars, and pretty reliable considering the performance and sophistication.

I ordered my 02 Coupe in March of 2002 and have had zero problems. I never went to the dealer for anything under the original warranty and have 2 years to go on my GMPP 0 deductible. Knock on wood.

I dont think that the C5's have any more problems than any other car - and maybe even have less. Mine has been very reliable.
Something to keep in mind - most people arent going to come on here and post just to say that their car is working fine and no problems. People come here to post to get help with their issues tha they are having. I would say that thats probably the reason that it seems like there are so many posts about problems.
I had zero issues with mine and I started modding at 31k to Sick HP and the only issues I have had were the rocking seats, fixed with I put in my roll bar, any other issues were mod related and expected out of 700+ rwhp

If you drive this car... things are gonna go wrong with it.
If someone really has a car with nothing wrong with it, they're either not looking/see the issue... or it just hasn't surfaced. These cars are assembled by humans.
I read a car buyers guide that rated everything on all the cars for that year on a scale from 1 to 4. Corvette Reliability got a 1 and satisfaction got a 4. I thought that was pretty funny.

That goes along exactly with how we feel about our cars. No matter what goes wrong, no matter what fails to work, no matter what falls off, no matter how much repairs cost, no matter how many times we get screwed by the dealer; WE STILL LOVE OUR 'VETTES!

I have owned my '98 for nearly four years. In that time I have replaced the headlight gears (one failed and the other would have), the oil pressure sensor once, the HVAC head unit (worked fine but had a couple of burned out lamps) and the clutch (3rd owner).
Overall this has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I've replaced a number of things, but those were by choice rather than because of a failure.
I agree with DVLDAWG that you see so many posts about problems....but that's because this is an enthusiast's site. Remember too that there were almost 1/4 million C5's built - and probably about .5% of the owners are members here. So what you read here certainly isn't representative of every C5 built.
Overall - considering the level of sophistication of these cars, considering that some of the cars here are 10 years old and some have more than 100K miles and the newest ones being four years old, I think the quality of the engineering is self-evident. Every time I drive the car, I continue to be amazed at the performance envelope of the car.
180,000 miles on our 98, bought new & started drag raceing it at 20k miles. This car is probably the most abused C5 in the SE United States and it just keeps on going. It is raced 2-3 races a week & has won enough$ to pay for it'self a couple times over. We sometimes drive it following the race rig 1,000 miles or more to the event, race, and drive it back when 98% of the other competetors trailered in their race only cars. Runs low 11's & is deadly consistant. I can't imagine another car taking this kind of abuse & still is driven to work daily & used as the shop truck.
I also think that alot of the problems people have with these and other sports cars is sitting. I happen to travel alot. I have problems with all my cars due to the fact that they will sit undriven for 6 months at a time. Cars need to be driven.
My car is newer to me but has only one problem. The drivers door power lock doesnt unlock. Most likely due to sitting. PO had 1 issue with the car. The drivers door power lock was fixed at 2k miles.
Ive has my 2000 for a little over 1yr and ive had zero problems with mine. its got 77000 miles on it and it still drives like new.I know i started coming here for about 6months before i got a vette , and i was sure worried after reading some of the problems they have,But knock on wood mines perrrfect and im very happy,And also thanks to all on here that have posted and helped me understand my car alot better,
Terry

I bought mine used. I knew the clutch had issues and it needed new tires. Bought it anyway, cuz I got a great deal on it. Replaced both and runs like a top, doesn't leak and has never given me one problem.
I just hit 100K miles on my 2003 coupe. The only definite problems have been the thermostat (replaced at 95K) and leaky differential seal (95K). I had the water pump replaced with the thermostat, but it isn't clear whether that was necessary.
My car is a daily driver, around town and many trips across North Carolina every month. Hell, I have ten hours of driving in the Vette tomorrow It runs as well as the day I brought it home. It looks better than the day I brought it home, except for a lot of small rock chips.
