Default 99 - Valentine 1 - Radar

99 in a 55 last night... it could be worse it could have been for over a 100 right? Funny I didn't think this little engine could go that fast :-P

So is the debate still raging on the Radar choice? I'm thinking that was my wake up to get the Valentine 1. Anyone have a picture of an install of this sucker? Especially with the alternate display location so you can run the main unit in invisible mode?

SO much for my perfect driving record discount :-P

Both V-1 and Passport 8500-X50 are very good units...
Mm sure that you were doing 99Km/hr ( 62 miles/hr) in a 55 mile/hr zone. I know you couldn't have been doing 99 miles per hour because that would get this thread locked... and you wouldn't get your answer....

Default V1 for me

I use the V1 in my Daily Driver and the 'vette. I use the suction cup bracket for the 'vette. I leave the bracket in the 'vette after installing it just above and to the right of the rear view mirror. I used the cord supplied with the V1 kit. BTW, the cord is just a black four wire telephone cord, and I hard wired it into the 'vette under the passenger side foot well. That is where the accessory connection is and it works great. The dectectors are great as they actually make you more aware of the speed limit and if you are daydreaming, the detectors will remind you if you get "lit up", or are about to.

Have a Cobra , use the suction cups in the Blazer and a piece of velcro on the dash in the vette. Don't really speed .......much lol, just think that vettes are a cop magnet so want to know in advance. Plus I am one of the rebels that don't have the front plate on.

I have a V1 with the remote. I use the stock suction mount, placed left/just below the rear view mirror. I set the remote in the ashtray location - seems perfect as I can close the door and the remote gets hidden.

My humble opinion - all vettes should have a V1 as standard equipment (unless your beauty is a garage queen)...

Well, I have both the PASSPORT 8500 and the V1! I love the V1 much more over the two. I used to preach the 8500 and how unimportant the arrows were, but now that I have them, I really can't see having it any other way.

The V1 has saved me numerous times and to be perfectly honest you there is no detector out there that is going to save your butt everytime, but it does help alot.

Default Definitely the V1

Was cruising home from the gym last night when a Statey started tailing me. My V1 is sitting atop my dash with a remote display below. I have a baseball cap discreetly covering the V1 itself. This cop kept blasting me with radar, I guess thinking he would see something light up in my car, but with the remote display, he saw nothing. Needless to say, I locked it on cruise control at the posted limit all the way. After about two miles, he gave up and turned off. Love my V1...it has saved my keester innumerable times!

I have had my V-1 since my car was new and it's a very good radar detector. With that said I'm savin' up for a radar detector/laser jammer (about $1K) If someone that didn't make a purchase yet asked me which detector I'd recommend I would tell them to start savin' too.

The V1 is a very good detector. Depending on what part of the country you are in, it can be a real lifesaver. I have certainly noticed more PoP2 in and around my parts. No warning - just like a Laser. It just starts going nuts.

Last weekend on the way from the drag strip, full well knowing that hickville PD boys would be everywhere, I nailed the Cruise right on the speed limit. Had V1 on and fat dumb and happy and look up and one of the yokal's prized radar trap leo's had stealthily snuck up where he was directly behind me about 3 car lenghts back.

Had no idea he was back there. So, after realizing I was 100% legal, he zooms by me then exits the interstate.. Then not more than 5 miles later, he comes up hauling the mail with lights and siren going and runs down a pickup truck. Odd.... true.. just odd.... Neither time did the V1 ever go off. When I passed the PU truck, got a look inside the LEO and he did have both front and rear radar in the car - guess was just not using it.

I used a V1 in my last car and will have another remote display set-up in my Vette. I'll be sure to snap some pics when I get it set up.
