Default Main Computer Location ?

I heard that the main computer was located under the battery..........is this correct. If this is so what would be the best way to access it.

Also, what is the unit that is in the rear, left storage bin ?

yes, its under the battery. the best way to get to is is from the passenger inner wheel well. take off the wheel and theres a panel that unscrews to access it.

You'll need a 7mm socket for the screws.

Not the BCM, it's located under a removable panel in the passenger side footwell.

Robertelarkin: Are you the original owner? If not maybe the previous owner installed an amp or something?

No, I just picked up this 2003 AE vert with 8300 miles, on it. I am not having any problems at all............just curious about the computer location.........I remember I got caught in one of those afternoon SHOWERS in Houston a few years ago, I was in my C4 and the water was almost to the top of my tires, I thought I was driving a submarine. I was hoping the computer did not get wet..........there was nowhere to go but keep driving. It was getting-off work traffic..........the only thing I could do was to floor it and keep driving, luckily I got to higher ground.

I think the computer box in the rear is for the magnetic shocks, or adjustable suspension.

I was curious what that box was.................I wonder if it is very delicate...........I would not want to store something in that bin that would harm or hit that box in any kind of way.

On my '04 with F55 Magnetic Selective Ride suspension, the unit in the left rear well is the F55 control computer. I don't know whether the '03s had the F55 option available, but if they did, and you have the selective ride control switch down on the center console, that's your answer.

Default Computer Location

Now I am wondering how water tite this location...........I guess the engineers thought this out and know best..........sure looks like a better, higher location could be found.

I was scared when my C4 was wheel-deep in a flash flood and its computer is on top of of the engine.......above the battery..........go figure.

The box is a one piece design and the bottom connectors have rubber seals on them. The harness connectors are screwed into the PCM.

Interesting kewl picture. I believe we are also seeing half the fuel cell where the rear panel is removed; half on one side half on the other.

You're looking at the trunk (Aka rear floor) not the fuel cells. The fuel tanks are behind the seats in a C5.

Here's a better shot of PCM mounting bracket.
