Airbag question
I have a 1998 C5 6 speed.
Is there any way to turn off the airbags for DE Events or a child car seat?
I would like to be able to turn them off and on, I do not wish to permanently disable them.

Not absolutely certain on the 98.
I can in my '03.
If you can, the switch is located in the glovebox and a little warning indicator is on the console. The switch only works on the passenger airbag. Not sure you'd want to shut off the driver airbag, especially during track events. Might come in handy.

GM hs discontinued their add-on kit. The new company sells the switch, but, YOU MUST CHANGE THE PASSENGER BELT.
The older belt will not work properly with the airbag off. You can get a new belt from Karshop or Ebay.

The '98 did not come with a passenger side air bag cutoff switch from the factory - that feature came out in mid-2000 model year. You can however buy a kit that will enable you to cut off the airbag on the passenger side. It is available from your dealer.
