Default Dyno Results Are In!!!

Hey Guys,

I recently did a HEADS/CAM combo on my 03 Z06 and the car got finally came back from the shop with some OK results.

Here are the mods that went on the car:

T.E.A Stage 2.5 heads
007 Speed Inc Cam - 228 222 .588 .581 114.5
Long Tube Headers
Ported LS6 Throttle Body
ASP Underdrive Crank Pulley
Zip Tie Mod - Im keeping this just for the most stock look I can get.
160 Thermostat
Borla Stinger Cat Back
X pipe and no Cats of course.

And of course:

Ported Oil Pump
LS2 Chain
Comp Cam Push Rods
and all the little things to keep the car running

The car was tunned on a mustang Dyno and did 333WHP bone stock with a borla catback and a zip tie mod.

After the mods the car did: 397WHP and 359Lbs of Tq.

I know the difference is 10% from a Dyno Jet.

What I found however was that the cars weight on the dyno showed. 3375lbs.

Im happy about the results and will be heading out to the local drag strip this coming week. So I will definetly post results when I'm Back. I'll try to make a video of how the lope of the cam sounds also.

Who did your work? I'm in Chicago and just curious. I did a cam only swap on my car using stock heads with Patriot gold springs and got 405 rwhp.

You got 405whp on a mustang dyno or dyno jet???

I know on a dyno Jet I would make I would make close to 440WHP

Total Power In St. Charles did my work.

What kind of cam are you running??? Mine is a baby cam you can barley hear the lope. Some people could not even tell I have a cam.

I didn't know there was a difference in dynos. I just know it was a wheel chassis dyno. Maybe that would explain the difference in hp numbers.

The cam is pretty mild too about .540 lift on intake and exhaust, 228 duration (i think can't remember) on 114 LSA

No offence, but these #'s seem short with all those mods.
I only have a vara-ram CAI
carbon fiber air bridge and smooth coupling
Borla Stingers
and a tune (Dyno jet)
and have 375rwhp and 363rwtq
I realize the #'s are off a dyno jet but seems you should have gotten more than you did. (is the difference between the mustang and dyno jet really 10%?)

I just did back to back dyno pulls on a Mustang Dyno and Dyno Jet. I have a H/C set-up as well and on a Mustang Dyno pulled 412 rwhp. Same set-up on the DynoJet the car showed 459 rwhp.

The difference between the two dyno's was just over 11%.

With your set-up, I'd expect to see around 442 rwhp on a dynojet.

Anyway, nice set-up and good luck at the strip.

Thank You

Ok guys I see that there is a confusion between the dyno numbers. Here it is.

Mustang Dyno measures the HP using the load of the car and driver on the dyno. That means true HP right at the pavement in your car.

Dyno Jet has no load on the dyno. Meaning it measures HP to the wheels but not taking in concern your weight of the car. That is why you are getting more HP on the Dyno Jet.

I made 397WHP on the mustang dyno. On a Dyno Jet I would make 437WHP.

I made 359lb/tq on the mustang dyno. On a Dyno Jet I would make 395lb/tq.

Most of the shops and Im not saying 90% of them but most of them use the DYNO JET to tune the car and give HP ratings. I went with a Mustang Dyno for a tune because I wanted to know exacly what the car made to the pavement.

My friend ran his C6 on a Dyno Jet and Made 440WHP and 405lb/tq. I raced him from a roll and both cars were dead even till about 140mph. Then he pulled 1 car on me because he has a much bigger cam than I do.

You have to understand that Some of you who are saying that you did 369WHP with an Intake did this on a Dyno Jet because On a mustang dyno the average z06 makes 330WHP.

I hope now it is a little more clear, and next week Ill have a track number for you guys. If my clutch holds up that is.

THANKS

KAMIL

I did a cam only swap, with all the supporting mods, and did 440/390 on a mustang dyno. Guys at the place couldnt believe the power it made, they were guessin like 425 or so. Sounds mean as hell too! They told me to put on a dyno jet, and see what it would do.

What? Those numbers are WAY off. I got 450/424 with STOCK TB, STOCK underdrive pulley WITH cats. It will be interesting to see MPH numbers. Sometimes dynos mess with your head. How does she drive compared to stock?

The stock TEA heads have a good intake/exhaust airflow ratio. Now, for cam selection I always try and take in to consideration the heads actual int/exh flow ratios and exhaust type. Obviously you wanted to reduce exhaust airflow. Why?? I am only asking as it doesn't seem to have worked. I'm running the standard 224/228-112+2.
What is the advance on that cam and where is it dialed for curiousity.

There is more power in your setup!
