What have you guys done in this regards? I believe I mentioned using some sort of black paint used for barbecues first and than using Testor paint pens for color? Where do you get the pins to put the liner back on the hood?

I painted my hoodliner with black hi temp bbq grill paint from home depot. I painted in a circular motion to avoid striping. Paint it outside so you don't get paint on the garage floor. Seems that paint will not completely dry without heat and you can track it into the house if done in the garage.
I then bought a decal from an ebay vendor and applied it following the directions and using a heat gun to cure the adhesive. I installed it in August of 2006. Here is a recent pic.
I am going to do mine soon and I hope it turns out as nice looking as your's! I am working on the brakes this weekend so the hood liner will have to wait!

Here is a picture of mine (the eagle) . I did it myself. Bought some flat black "stove paint" at Home Depot. Remove the hood liner. Cleaned the liner with damp cloth before I started. Let it dry. Spray with the flat black paint, two coats. Then, after the paint is dry, I used a clear engine lacquer over the flat black, two coats.
Now for the colored paints. Since the hood liner is very porous, you will have to use artist's "gesso" to cover the part you want to paint. This acts as an undercoat and seals the liner. For the actual image, I used the type of acrylic paint crafters use to paint on fabrics. The paint is "set" with heat (your engine heat is enough) After the paint is air dried, I used the lacquer over the top of the image. I have had this on for two years with absolutely no problems. Any questions, PM me.
