I put a LS2 in my 65 Coupe and have a belt squeal, everything looks aligned. I spray some belt dressing on it and it stops for a minute or so. Anyone have a tip to track down what is making the belt squeal? I do not have much experience with these belt systems.
I bought a Dayco belt from Advanced auto and mine squeeked. I put back on the original and it stopped. I just ordered the goodyear gatorback which was recommended here on the forum. Will let you know when I get it on Wed. if it squeeks or not. You may need to try a different brand of belt. Not much info but I hope it helps. Good luck

OK let me know what happens as this is an aftermarket belt as the Alt, power steering, waterpump came from a 02 Camero, then some brackets from others. Thanks, I'll look for an update later in the week. Tim
Not sure, the guy who did the engine made some adjustments to the Alt bracket and the tensioner to get everything to line up. It looks aligned. Ran it for while, sprayed some belt dressing on it, that made it go away for a minute or so. Checked the temps on all the pullies and they were all close, figured maybe the squeaky one would be building up more heat, but no luck. Not used to these belt systems and how to trouble shoot them. Any clues or tip ? Tim
I have the same problem with a new belt.......squeaks constantly - I now carry around my belt dressing too........like said above, check the tensioner to make sure it's not loose, but sometimes these after market belts squeak, nature of the beast.......replace it with OEM and it should go away.....
I had the same problem, replaced the main tensioner pulley, AC tensioner assy, and AC idler pulley and installed two new Dayco premium belts and there is no more noise.

No A/C on this one, going to get a new gatorback belt, they are reccomended by many on the Fourm. Next will be the one tensioner. Thanks for your tip. Tim

Will go the new belt - Goodyear Gatorback is reccomended by many. The belt dressing only worked for a minute or two, did it twice. The tensioner will be next stop. Thanks Tim

Nice fuel rail covers !
Good call Tim, I might not be far behind you in that Gatorback.......FRC's just got done........thanks!!
I have the Gatorback on mine, and it has been on for 2 years now.
When i replaced the original belt back with a factory original it would only last for around 6 months before it would start the squeaking again. If i sprayed belt dressing on it it would get worse not better. The only thing i found that quited it down was parafin wax.Had to rub it on while it was running. But it only kept it quite for about 30 mins.
The only complaint i have about the gatorback is that it will squeak in the fall and spring when the temp outside is in the upper 30's. But as soon as the weather gets warmer or colder the squeak is gone
