I love my car to say the least. It is a 2000 Millenium Yellow 6-speed coupe. This car has 36000 miles on it. Let me shed some light on my dilema. I had a car payment since I was a teenager. I now have a family and a new house and do not drive my car because of my work schedule. I can afford the car but think I should start putting my money in other places. If I decide to sell, how much should I sell her for? I am on the fence about this one because I do not want to sell her. How much should I list her for if i decide to sell her! Thanks in advance. My Wife supports my choice either way!
i just had to do the same thing. very hard decision for me also. i sold my 2000 coupe with 39000 miles to my dealership for $23000 then sold off the mods i had removed from it for a few thousand more right here on the forum. a customer purchased the car a few days ago for $26988. that car is torch red, black interior, had HUD, sport seats, all the other options for the yr. very nice car that needed no excuses. i imagine yours should be around the same if in similar condition. now privately it is a little more difficult to sell for as much as a dealer who has more "traffic" looking at their cars. so in between those two values i think your price would be found. good luck with your decision !!! kinda sucks to get rid of your car but sometimes things need to be done for the good of the family. you can always get another when the timing is better.
If your more than half-way there keep her ! Once you have that title nobody can take her away from you. Heck the car won't even hardly cost you any money to own once those damn payments are over. I have owned 12 Corvette and there are two I wish I still had.

I understand totally what you are saying. You have a car sitting in the garage losing value and kids that will probably need money for college, etc. later. You could use this money that is depreciating in value and open up a savings for the kids, family, or other places etc. that could actually earn money and appreciate in value. Only you can answer your question. Only you know how much you like your vette. If you would go through withdrawals after it is sold and you would cringe everytime you see another vette, I would say suck it up and keep it. If it's not that important and you realize you can get another one nicer and faster than your current one at a later date, then I'd say sell it.
I regretted selling my first Corvette, especially after the wife and I made another trip to Carlisle. Came back from that show and decided to get another one. After we got the C5 my wife decided that she wanted her own Vette and now a nice C4 sits in the garage also.
Well, sometimes you just gotta do things you don't really want to. I had a gorgeous C4 which I had to sell when my kids were in college. Now, a few years later, I recently got a C5 that is a hundred times nicer than the C4 ever was. Had I kept the C4, I never would had know this. (I never would have been able to have both).
I totally understand...I just did the exact same thing. I've had a Corvette in my driveway since '95. Just last month, I traded in my '99 on a '07 Tahoe. I just couldn't justify having the Vette and my Tacoma right now....kids, private school, upcoming college for my oldest, etc.
So I decided to trade both vehicles in on the new Tahoe LT.
There will be another Vette in my driveway in a couple years...but for now, it's time to put the priorities in the right order.

If you can keep it, do it. Especially since you like the car so much. But if you do decide to sell, I'd say $26-28K would be about right. Check prices in your local area and see what others are going for.
