Default Rattle and ringing noises while driving

Today I noticed a rattle noise coming from the rear of the Z every time you let off the accelerator. It doesn’t seem to be connected to the engine or transmission. Pressing or depressing the clutch doesn’t make a difference to the noise either, plus it’s there at any RPM.
It’s very noticeable when standing next to the rear wheels and also right behind the exhaust. Almost sounds like marbles in the exhaust.
Next thing I noticed that when accelerating hard at about 4000 RPM all the way up to redline there is an additional ringing/whistling. What is going on with my Z ??!? Maybe a problem with the heat shield or torque tube ?

More than likely you've got the "exhaust jingles". Penicillin will not fix it.
It's caused by the exhaust hangers/springs and there have been several write-ups here about a fix. Try a search. If I find them first I'll post a link.

Here's one fix.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1335263

It also couls be caused by the H-pipe. There are threads that discusses that remedy also.

Here's a bunch:

Mine had the same problem, changed the factory h-pipe with an aftermarket x-pipe, noise gone and sounds better!!!!!!

Update:
I just crawled under the car as far as I could and tried to reproduce the sound by knocking against the exhaust pipes. It basically doesn’t matter if you hit one of the mufflers or the pipes, the noise itself sounds exactly the way I described earlier !
It’s enough if you just knock against the pipe with one finger.
Seems there really is a problem with the springs that hold the exhaust pipes. Hopefully this will be the solution for the problem. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1335263
I will keep you updated as soon as I have the opportunity to get the car on a lift.

I don’t know how or if this could also have a connection to the ringing/whistling above 4000RPM.. any idea if this could be connected ?

I would think those springs take a lot of abuse with the heat cycles. Maybe they should be changed automatically at a certain mileage...it would be cheap to replace and eliminate them as the source of the noise.
