Default Wheel Hop Issues

Dose anyone have any info on ways to eliminate wheel hop when launching at a drag strip? 2002 stock Z06 launching at around 2500-3000 rpm with factory tires and 35 psi, the car shook pretty hard.

What type of suspension mods are worth investing in to help eliminate this issue?

Thanks!!!!

I would install a DTE brace. Wheel hop is a sure way to lunch your rear end and/or your transmission.

Isn't that psi a little high at 35?

I was thinking the same thing.

Personally, I would lower the pressure not raise it. The recommended pressure for stock tires is 30psi.

Ranger has published some pretty good info on this, try the search tool above...

Sticky tires with proper launch procedures will definitely reduce wheel-hop.

Tires that are made to "flex" will help with that issue. Regular street tires usually have too stiff of a side-wall and tend to contribute to "hop"

And lower air pressure will help slightly. 35 psi is a bit high for even normal day driving IMO.

Wheel hop can be avoided by minor driver technique adjustments.
(1) reduce the rear psi to 26-28 hot.
(2) use the three element launch I describe here: General Launch Techniques
(3) it is especially important to squeeze the throttle rather than stab it.
