can i just unplug the solenoid w/o installing the cags eliminator piece? My white plastic part won't fit for some reason, even though it's the right year. done this mod before, this one isnt cooperating. thanks...
dont know for sure but if you do leave it disconnected you may want to make sure moisture and dirt cant get into the connectors. i have one lying around here it`s for a 03 you can have it if you want.
are you certain you are looking at the correct plug? I seem to remember there were a couple of available electrical plugs in that general vicinity... but only one was for the CAGS.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. If you leave it unplugged you will get a check engine light and the DIC will throw a code. You need the resistor to "fool" the computer into thinking the selenoid is still doing it's thing.

That's what I am thinking. The CAGS eliminator should fit on the connector just fine - I know mine does. Make sure you are working with the right connector on the upper driver's side of the tranny.

This is an easy mod to do. If you don't feel like spending the $20 for the eliminator and are handy with a soldering iron, just disconnect the wires from the tranny and add a 2.2k ohm resistor in line(about a dollar at radio shack). We use delphi connectors at work so i just made my own eliminator. Put it on and it has been working for 6 months. PM me if you have any questions about how to do it.

When i was going to put mine in I was going to make my own as well, but couldn't get one of the delphi plugs. Anyways in my research I was told to get a 2200 ohm resistor, which I got but when since I couldn't get the right connector I got a premade one.
Anyways, when I measured the resistance on that one I got something like 20 ohms, anyone know where the 2200 ohms comes from, or does anyone have a purchased one and can measure the resistance?

There ya go...was trying to put it into a plug on the pass side...

Hey Autobot,
I'm not the expert on this but I listened to those who know! When I got a check engine light, my DIC threw a code indicating that the skip shift selenoid was "bad". Well, the CAGS eliminator resistor was not stout enough and burned up like a roman candle. I just popped the end off and soldered a 2.2K resistor in it's place and it has been fine ever since.
