You know, the more I think about the reactions to this, I realize a lot of people here are just resisting the changing of trends. I mean, the 50s/60s saw flames as the big custom paint thing, then in the 70s it was painting car names on things (like PORSCHE on the sides of 911s, huge Trans Am logos on hoods, etc) and then in the 80s it was stripes and the rise of spoilers. Now, 'the kids' are turning to complex, technical designs for paint schemes. It started on imports but now budgets and resale values of Corvettes are coming together, so we're seeing these wild paint jobs on Corvettes.
So, when you condem the look of cars like this, you're really just showing bias toward old styles and, sorry, showing your age. And before you all say, "yea, but it still looks awful," think about what YOUR old man said about the flames/graphics/stripes on the car YOU drove at 22.
Justin, I have always admired your work and how hard you worked to achieve your own unique style. You truly did some amazing work on AC and your website has some other terrific paint jobs/concepts as well.
The C5 you've featured here obviously took a lot of inspiration, time and effort. Kudos to you for staying true to yourself and thanks for sharing your work with us.
And please keep posting examples of your excellent ideas and efforts.

A show car is meant to grab your attention, and this one definitely gets it done. It's not my favorite style, but I do appreciate the artistry that went into it. Well done.
just wanted to say thanks to everyone that responded , whether it be good or bad...this one was definately not designed for the masses..all flaked out ,antifreeze geen candies and baby blue striping..not the norm by any means. luckily the customer just wanted something totally out there and something that hasn't really been done on a vette before..he was tired of driving a white car around and just let me run with it..showed him some sketches and he said "do your thing"..was blown away when it was finished and couldn't be happier with it..we realized alot of "vette" guys would cringe at the thought of this but that made it seem even more right..it stands out and that was our main goal with it. i could have played it safe and done something a little more on the convential side of design/colors etc..but that takes out that fun with project like this..thanks again all.. oh.. my name is justin barnes and my shop is jb grafix...www.jbgrafix.com thanks again
That paint job is awesome. I like it for the fact that it is original and something you just don’t see every day. The craftsmanship looks spectacular. Would I want it on my car? Definitely not. I still think it's very .
Justin,
As you've gathered -- it's not for most of us on a Vette. However, the quality of the paint job looks terrific! I LOVE your stuff for bikes -- I think you're the best painter OCC has had.
Cheers,
Vaughn
