bugs don't want to come off with regular washing, paint cleaner or regular bug remover. been on to long after long, long road trip. any suggestions how to remove stubborn bugs. I can feel with my fingers easily.

WD-40 will soften them up so you can gently wipe them off with a micro fiber towel without leaving scratches......Take your time and try not to rub too hard. They can be a real pain sometimes.....

Good luck...

We have love bugs in Texas, the best stuff i have ever seen believe it or not is baking soda. Wet the cars surfaces, put some in your hand and rub them right off of paint, glass or chrome. I have used this stuff for years and it will not scrath the paint. It doesn;t take a lot of effort either.

Love Bugs, et al: I've tried Bug & Tar remover, and etc. I'm back to just very warm water and a microfiber towel. I first wet a section with warm water and then go back over working each bug splatter. Even in the hot sun, it works the best as compared to the other methods, and saves my layers of wax. I use a kitchen scrub pad and warm water for the windshield and it's fast and easy.

I take the bugs and road dirt, etc, off the car with this method before I wash the car and then finish with Meguirars' Detailer Spray.

I place 2 hot wet towels over the front bumper and let them sit for an hour or so. Most of them come off VERY easily, then I use the Bug & Tar junk!

Soaking hot, hot wet towels on fresh bugs for less than 30-60 seconds will remove them quickly, easily and cheaply.

For older bugs I concur with MyOwn69

I'm in South Georgia and the love bugs can get pretty nasty around here. I have several friends that use damp dryer sheets to take them right off. Doesn't hurt the paint. May leave a slight film that you just wash off like normal.

I use Rejex paint sealant.
95% of baked on bugs washoff with the hose, the remainder comes of when the wash mitt hits them.

You should search and post in Car Care section to get the experts to chime in. I have read numerous posts on this topic and the most common responses are

- damp dryer sheets.
- damp towel resting on car while it smothers the bugs, making them easy to remove.

Either way, the sooner you get to removing em, the easier they will be to get off. Even if you don't have time to do a full wash dry. Spending 5 minutes every week treating your front end will same you lots of time when wash day does come around.

Hot rags also remove polish / wax. I only wash my car in cold water.
