My current Vette already had a K&N filter (if you consider that a "mod") and a Corsa Touring catback exhaust. The only mods I have planned when I get back from Iraq are LS1 side badges, a Callaway Honker or Z06 lid (can't decide which) and a tune (since its an auto, just want to adjust shift points and dial down the torque management). No engine mods whatsoever.

My personal opinion:::

some mods = exhaust, shifter, brake pads, hood seal, tunnel plate, etc

Heavy mods: strokers, blowers, coil overs, $3000 wheel package, gears, weight reduction... I guess pricey and/or very purpose built strip/track stuff....

only about 10% stock, why did I wait so long..... I know 40 years from now it might hurt resale, but I haven't driven without a smile since I started... Oh By the Way, in a perfect world, 'vettes shouldn't be sold, they should be kept and passed down. And before the flames start, I did say in a perfect world.....

A nice original 67 coupe is worth $***,***.** or a lot of money. Of course 1967 was about 40 or so years ago. So if I leave my C5 unmolested and don't put that many miles on it, lets see 40 years times 500 miles a year OK that's 20,000 miles. In the year 2047 I should be able to make a tidy profit. Of course I will be close to 100 so I should really enjoy that windfall. Now if I was 10 years old it would make more sense.

I talked to a guy at our once a month NHRA fairground car show. He had a 66 roadster that he just sold for $125k. He said he was tired of it because he was only the caretaker. He really couldn't enjoy the car or put miles on his museum piece. Just wax and take it out to the occasional car show. That sounds like fun. Well, it probably does to some.

They made a ton of C5s, some will sit in a garage for the next 25+ years and be worth some money. If you own the car for the next 15 years your going to lose money modded or stock. I will let someone else take care of history I am going to enjoy my car fixed up the way I like it. A nice clean well maintained Corvette will always find a new willing appreciative owner.

I just added a thing or 2 here and there, like

wheels
headers
stereo
heads
cam
cat-back
intake
t-stat
Gears
Level Iv Tranny
Cartek clutch

When I think of myself and my vette, such words come to mind as,, junkie, modfreak, modaholic, addict..issues I remember when I modded my F-body, got rid of it and got the Vette. Swore up and down that I would only do cat-back, car was fast enough and cool enough stock... then I made a small mistake, I started hanging out with other vette people....and then the bigger problem...I found the forum

That is a real good one and slapping on a blower does fix alot of issues

What was it that changed your mind and made you decide to mod after 7 years? Just got tired of looking at the same old boring car?

I don't have cash to buy a 40 year old vette, but I do have enough to not sell this one. Vettes are s'possed to be driven. I think the better story is "my father gave me this when I turned ## years old" instead of "I make enough $ to buy this off some guy" Bottom line, any vette is a great vette.

I've done some mods but nothing that can't be undone (except the Borla Stingers) plus I've kept all of my stock stuff so in the event that I have to sell I can change it back to almost stock.

P.S. DGW and Chemdawg99 be safe over there
