Last week I pulled into the gas station and sitting at one of the pumps was a C6 ZO6 (black like my 97). I pulled up beside him and we chatted as we filled up the cars. That was the first Vette he has ever owned. He was all smiles talking about it. Those things look as fast as they are. I love the wider rear on them.
After that I broke down and had a look at a 05 coupe on a lot here in town. I sat in it, started it up but did not drive it. I liked the touch button radio but other than that nothing really knocked my socks off. Of course, I have not taken one out yet.
I have not looked at one on purpose. I was afraid that I would get the bug. Now I guess it has started. Now I want to drive one to see what it is like. We all know how this plays out. Drive then try to talk the wife into it, etc. Wish me luck.

Corvette Forum Secret: If the wife doesn't like the idea of a good 'vette owning you, call a good divorce attorney!
Question: "Ya know why divorces are sooooo expensive?"
Answer: "They're worth it!"
In all seriousness, towards your beloved "Ball and Chain", 'er I mean your beloved Wife......Tell her you will be in the garage most of the time worshipping and pampering the 'vette and not out anywhere else. Ya know like out with the boys, that is if she lets you go out with them now.

Not to "dis" C4's, but the leap in technology from the C4 to a C5 was huge! That same leap in technology is not present on the C5 to C6. The C6 uses the same architecture as the C5 (rear mounted transaxle), uses the same hydroformed frame rails, uses the same LSx drivetrain (admittedly a few more cubic inches and horsepower, but the same design) . All of these things were brand new on the C5 - and the C6 uses them too.
Sure the C6 has a few electronic advances (push button starter), XM Radio and GPS factory available and a few other things, but when the car came out some jokingly referred to it as the C5.5 I think the C6 is an improvement on the C5 - but it is not radically new. I've driven coupes and convertibles, no Z06 yet. Frankly I wasn't that impressed.

A C6 is in my future as well, BUT, I will have a C5 AND a C6! NO WAY am I Ever selling my C5! The C6 might and probably a "better" all around car, but, my first vette will never be replaced!
