Looking to try and make a visor mounted bracket for my Escort for the Vette and my Tacoma. Anyone got any pointers or hints?
Not sure if these will work on the Tacoma, but I've got the black bracket with the 22" cord in my 03', and it's a top quality product. Very
clean, solid installation. Go to www.vettemods.com to check it out!

Vettemods bracket most definitely for your Vette (same for Invisicord)
It might work for your Tacoma depending on how your visors are attached to the roofline...
Here's another type of mount that might work in your Tacoma (this attaches to the mirror stalk but is designed for Nissan/Infiniti vehicles): Custom Radar Detector Mounts

Yeah, I've seen them. I'd like to try and make mine, especially for the Tacoma because the visor bracket is different.

Hi everyone.
Thanks for the recommendations! I do not spend a great deal of time marketing our items so word of mouth is how most of our customers find our site.
Twisted99, I absolutely encourage everyone to go the DIY route whenever possible. I decided to start selling all the items at vettemods.com after doing the same and creating them for my own 2000 ragtop, except the Invisicord, which are provided by invisicord.com. Some times people prefer to buy, or just don't have the ability or access to make an item like this.
As far as the price, I feel it is very fair. Our brackets are cut from aluminum stock, and milled by a machinist, then they are media blasted, bent and finally powder coated. We then add the felt to the top to protect your vinyl and package and ship them. I will also add that I have sold a lot of these brackets and have not quit my day job yet...so I am definitely not making a killing on them.

I have to agree with Rick. the price is Fair. It's not inexpensive, but as the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for". The bracket is beautifully made and mounts in two minutes by removing one screw in your visor. The best thing is my Escort now is solidly mounted, without any movement or vibration at all, and it's mounted in a perfect spot.

I want to make my own to save a few bucks, especially since I need 2. I do not think your price is unfair, just more than I can justify spending on my "toys". I know I can make them good enough for me, I'm sure they will not be done to a level where it could be sold as a commercially sellable product.
Personally, i have the Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector - Blue, and i like the idea of the removable suction cups. You can remove the unit and keep it out of sight so the little ripoff ba$tards won't break into your car and take it since they do run about $340.00...
Very cool Twisted99! That is very close to my original design. I made a few design changes since then.
Good luck with the Tacoma. Now I am working on one for my new 07 Tundra....hey its a 5.7 just like the VETTEMods C5
Yeah, now I know why yours has that offset "ear", to get to the volume / power. But this will work for me...at least for now.
If the Tundra has a visor clip like the Tacoma, it's gonna be . No threaded hole on the truck, just a square peg that a screw goes through and expands the peg.
Good job. I am thinking of something similar and was thinking of slipping in some shrink wrap to pad the unit.
The friend who helped me (OK did most of the work ) suggested getting it anodized. The guy he uses to do his RC car stuff would probably do it free if I can wait til he is doing other stuff and can just do mine with it. Other idea was that stuff you dip tool handles in to make grips.
