On my 2001 Coupe, the rear latch for the roof has suddenly lost it' knuckle blasting springiness. Now it just dangles when its not latched. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything on taking it apart and repairing it. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks fellas.
Okay, the C5 Coupe (2001) has 3 latches that hold the roof on the car. Two in the front and one in the back. The 2 up front have handles that you turn in order to release their hold onto the car. The rear has a button like latch that when pushed, releases the rear latch. The thing about the rear latch is you have to be careful and keep your knuckles out of the way or whack! You'll have some painful knuckles when that handle swings (more like slams) free.
My rear latch on the roof has lost it's whack power. Upon inspecting the roof, I can see that the spring has come loose from it's seating. What I need is an exploded diagram of that latch or some pictures of that latch so that I can see how the spring is placed. I can then disassemble my latch and put the spring back where it goes. Because the spring is not working as it should, when I go to put my roof back on the car, that rear latch swings into it's locked position and leaves me holding the roof with one hand and trying to open the latch with the other hand.
Those roof is not light as any C5 Coupe owner will tell you so this puts me in quite a pickle. You would probably have to own (or have owned) a Coupe to understand what I'm talking about.

Just a guess here, but you might want to see if Patches has a diagram for the rear latch. I've seen him post up some excellent pics of how things go together.
