I'm looking for a new rear spoiler. I've narrowed it down between the Aci and Caravaggio. It looks to me that the ACI doesn't swoop as far on the side. Any advise?
I have the ACI on my car. If you don't really know the differences between them you can't tell much of a difference.
One of the biggest differences for me was that the Carvaggio goes all the way to the trunk line (sitting on top of the rear cover) whereas the ACI is smaller.
I wouldn't have minded having the carvaggio but I got a better deal on the ACI through Ecklers.
Caravaggio
Longer side spears
aligns with seams
uses 3M tape install
Cost more
ACI
shorted side spears
makes it's own seam
Bolts on
Cost less
I guess if your looking for a cost effective spoiler and really don't care about the look then ACI is your best bet, but if you want a nice looking, smooth fitting spoiler then Caravaggio is the ticket......
BTW did I mention I have the Caravaggio so maybe I'm a little bias
The Caravaggio lays better on top. It follows the shape of the deck lid better and doesn't create an additional seam going across the top because it meets the trunk opening. The ACI is shorter on top. The ACI also sticks up higher which (1) doesn't look as sleek and (2) if it matters to you is going to make it a harder reach into the trunk. The caravaggio side spears are longer and sleeker, a little more horizontal than the ACI which are shorter and point downward more.
The original design, prototypes and production of the Caravaggio spoilers was done by John Cafaro, the original designer of the C5 Vette at GM. He turned over the molds to Caravaggio as he moved on within GM to work on vehicles. The ACI is a slightly different copy of the original. Oh, and did I mention I, too, also have Caravaggio spoilers and canards on my Vette.
From: 90% of all Fords are still on the road.....the other 10% actually made it home!
When I was looking for a rear spoiler, one of my biggest worries was to have something that stuck up too high. After seeing "JETZ" car with the Caravaggio and another C5 coupe with the ACI, it wasn't even a question of which one I liked better.
To me the Caravaggio was much more stream line and looked a lot more like it was specifically made to follow the body lines of the car. At first I wasn't too sure about the side spears, but the more angles I seen it from, the more I started to like them. And, if you're some one who likes front canards, those side spears are perfect for matching that angle. (I have some I still need to install)
And last but certainly not least,........there was NO WAY I was about to drill holes in my rear facia. With the 3M tape they have now, I guarantee you there's no way my spoiler is coming off the car without a fight! Yeah, it might cost a few dollars more than the ACI,......but when it comes to the appearance of my Corvette, I'm not about to start cutting corners.
Since you have a Black Vette, this will give you a better idea of what it would look like!

Man oh man, After seeing your car I don't know if I want black or chrome wheels. I wanted the black with polished lip but those look fantastic on a black Vette and I think the spoiler completes the overall look. Very nice car!
