Default Rear Bumper letter inserts

I saw a black coupe with chrome looking inserts.. looked good.
Anybody have pics.... maybe on a red vert...
Also I see some really inexpensive sets, under $5, on ebay... and some for $50 a set in chrome...
Any advise and of course pics anybody..

Ebay, you never know the quality, or exactly what you might be getting. Could be cheap plastic that will have to be replaced in a month or so. Get the polished stainless steel ones from Chip at CCA. He's a vendor here, and one great guy to order from. Gets things out FAST. At work, don't have pics here. You can find my posts about them, there are pics in it. Good luck!

No pic's sorry but do a search in the for sale and a supporting vendor sells the front and rear sets for $79 if I remember right. be careful what you buy some are just like reflective tape and other's are thicker chrome letters (not sure what there made of but I guess their about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch thick) Hope that helps

Got mine form MidAmerica or Corvette Central. They are the raised rubbery type like Cyberdine Graphics sells.

This is how they looked on my Torch Red 99

On my 03 Spiral Gray

Chip @ CCA. BUT be warned on the "R", take a snips (Wiss) and snip the point of the R off. Itty bitty titty witty snip.

It sticks out just a bit and snaps stuff. THe R's seem to have the prob for everyone.

Also follow the directions to clean, alcohol, pre adhesive. No shortcuts.

THe 5 buck sets are stickers.. dont do that. Its lame.

I got a set of the black plastic from Mid America (car is Pewter so I didn't think the SS would look as good)
I like the way they set off the rear bumper but in a year I think I have had to replace the double sided tape on every letter. Luckily they always seem to fall off when I am washing the car so I haven't lost any letters.
Don't know if the original tape was crap or not

I bought those also because after looking at SS inserts, they have a tendency to grab a wash mit, sponge ect. because of the sharp edges. Alex at cyberdine sells raised polyurethane type letters that are smooth & look great. The finish is underneath & doesn't water-spot, catch mits, ect.

Now look at the letters & not the bumper stickers.........

I wouldn't kick either of those bumper covers out of bed!

Having said that, I pulled a fast one lately. I had cheapo inserts from the NCM on my car, and when I got rear-ended recently I had the solid stainless inserts (from SSinserts) Installed by the body shop. I'm happy!

Hmmm... As I reconsider, I don't really know that the body shop got the replacement inserts from SSinserts. I should give them a call and find out!

I bought a set of polished stainless of flea-bay for my 2000 and the fit and finish were great. I bought a set of the uber-expensive titanium black SSinserts for my 02 model and they dont fit all that well especially the fronts. I feel sure a high pressure car wash would blow them off. Live and learn I guess......

Have you had any problems with them catching wash mits or anything? I had SS & I kept catching the "R" & ripping it off......

Default SS from Mid-America

See my avatar (kinda hard to see I guess)--so far they've stuck just fine, look great, and don't grab the wash mitt. Ron
