[Z06] GM Major Guard

GM Major Guard
I know this is a subjective question, but how much value does a Major Guard add to a vehicle?
Any stories, good or bad, about actually filing claims?
Thanks.

It could add at least the price of the plan to the selling price...or you can get a % refund if you sell the car w/o it. I'd be less inclined to buy a car with an xyzextendedwarranty.com

Since we've owned GM vehicles, we've always had some level of GMPP extended warranties. They always repair the problems w/o argument and provided a rental car if our vehicle was kept overnight. The plans always end up costing us much less than any repairs required.

If you own a Corvette, especially a Z06, and leave it pretty much stock with maybe only modest modifications I feel that it is a good investment. The electronics, traction control and drive train in this car are high test and expensive to fix. I purchased a GM 4 year program just before my car went out of the factory 3/36,000 warranty. The plan was around $900 and will take me to 2010 or 40,000. I will never hit the mileage in the next four years since the car is a toy and not a daily driver. The extended warranty allows me to extend this plan for another 4 years and the 40,000 limit if I choose to do so. This could provide me with up to 10 years of protection.

hi folks,
I picked up a 6 year, 100k mile, 0 deductible warranty and never looked back.
it's already come in handy. I track my car often and the rubber joint covers on my rack/pinion started falling apart. They had to order an entire rack, could not just replace the joints! $775 repair that I didn't pay a dime for.
If the AC or TC goes out, I can't imagine how much that would cost. The HUD? another very expensive item.
I paid $1250 for it from a dealer out of Louisiana.
Oh and if you are going to get a plan, be sure to do it before you hit 24k miles on the ticker. after that mileage, the cost of the plan skyrockets!

When I ordered my GMPP, the dealer just took my word for it that the mileage was what I put down. You sign a paper that states the beginning mileage. If you never have a claim you could put down any mileage you want, but it would be a little embarrassing to put down a low mileage and need to have something repaired under warranty with the mileage way off (if not impossible) from what you stated on the application. I would think that most people have the opposite problem. The mileage is so low, that you would like to add miles to the beginning mileage to get more coverage down the road. If I did that, my luck would be I would need a repair and the car had not even gotten to the stated inflated mileage. Better just to be honest, or you will likely get a claim denied.

The GMPP adds piece of mind, I would likely pay another thousand dollars for a car with warranty over one that doesnt. I have my 02 covered under a major guard plan till July of 2011

I am comming up on my third year of ownership as well (15000 miles)
Where is a good place to purchase an extended coverage plan?
Are the GMPP all the same cost reguardless of where purchased?

I just left the Chevy dealer. They offered a Zurich brand plan. Cost is $2,650 for 3/36 "refered" plan that they recomended. Then there's the "comprehensive" plan for $3,306. He said "it's a good plan and the same as the GM but cheaper". They also offer 18 mo interst free.
I'd like to know if this is a good deal. Or if there's a better one to buy? Or if it's really good money spent for the top level?
