Default C5 Air conditioning help

I have a 2000 Vette. Recently it has started giving me some A C issues. The AC will work fine then stop blowing cold. I noticed at that time the light on the ac button would be off. When I turn it back on the light will flash 5 times then go off again. Then later it all starts working fine again. Has anyone scene this? What have you guys ran into?

THanks in advance.

Look at the compressor clutch while it is blowing warm. Front of clutch should be turning with the rest of the pulleys. Then look here:

Let us know what you find.

It actually blows cold when it is working. I am wondering if the problem is the climate control brain in the dash. I have also noticed when it acts up the outside temp is reading in the 30's. Since it is summer time in Texas i am pretty sure this si false. LOL.

1. are you running A/C in auto or manual ?
2. If in auto mode the temp control could be looking at the ouside air temp sensor, as a reference and turning off your compressor since the outside air temp is below freezing.
3. Locate your outside temp sensor , and clean the connections.
4. you can test the sensor with a ohm meter, not sure what type off sensor it would be.
5. If the sensor ia a RTD you should read on the ohm meter, more than 100 ohm's.
6. if the sensor is a thermocouple, the meter will indicate a short.
indicating that the sensor is OK

Replace the exterior temperature sensor at the front of the car.
