Seen some people saying that R134a sucks so bad and their A/C is not very cold. Put the thermometer in and checked. It was 105 outside and I pulled into the 120 degree garage after work and got to 33 degrees not even moving
I know R12 is better (on my truck), but mine seems to kick azz.
That's really excellent performance from any AC! Mine only does about 40 in this heat wave we're in but I think that's great. C5's have good ACs, most of them will freeze your buns.
This car has the best A/C ever. Beats my 86 with none. On a 100~ day, I can drive with the windows down to the parking lot, by the first intersection, I'm cool. By the third one, my fan is at setting 2.
I haven't checked my register temperature, but it performs well even in the heat wave we've had (10 consecutive days of 100+, going for 11 today).
And I keep it on outside air, not recirculate.
Is that what the manual recomends? Outside air, not recirculate?
Mine ('97 coupe) gets mighty cold, but not near as cold as my '96 Ranger. You'd thing you were in the Arctic Circle!!!
Recirc will get colder. Your compressor will not have to work as hard either and you would get better mileage since it would cycle off more. Why would you want to cool hot moist outside air?

I always run mine in the "recirculate" mode. Just wanted to be sure I was doing it right!
With top down and recirculate in hot Florida sun my A/C works perfect. I just wish it didn't always default to outside air because sometimes I forget to switch it.
