Does any have any idea on how to replace the brake fluid. I just notice while cleaning the other day that they were dark in color as opposed to clear. My 03 is technically 5 y/o with 169++ miles. Thanks for ( ala Dr. Evil ) the info
Easiest way... suck it out of the reservoir with a turkey baster or sytringe. ( Walmart sell sthem for adding the corect amount of 2 stroke oil to gasoline)
That refreshes the reservoir and if you do it every week will eventually changeout a significant amount of fluid.
Put in a DOT 3& DOT 4 fluid like Valvoline Synpower brake fluid.
The best way is to put the car of 4 jack stands , remove the wheels, and then install speed bleeders (replacing the stock bleed screws on the calipers) www.speedbleeder.com

Bleed all corners until it comes out clean. Keep an eye on the reservior and do not let it run dry.

If you don't have a turkey baster, just use the pump assembly from any hand spray bottle. Insert the suction end into the master cylinder and squirt the fluid into a disposable container..........works great and quickly.
Speedbleeders make this job easy. Put a small tube on the end of the bleeder and place the other end in a large bottle to collect the fluid for disposal.
With a full master cylinder, use a vacuum pump on each bleeder until the fluid comes out clear looking at each bleeder. Make sure you don't let the M.C. run out.
Thanks for the tips. Looks like the speed bleeder is pretty cheap and looks like ti does the job better. But I'll try the turkey baster route for now. By the way. If I do it the easy way ( sucking the fluid from the Master cylinder/brake reservoir) how much brake fluid should I buy? Or maybe I should look in the owner's manual. Thanks again for the tips!
I did mine and autozone sells a great hand syphon pump for 6.00. The problem is they did not have the clear lines to connect to each end. I ended up getting them at lows for .20 per foot (cheap).
I don't know, but I don't like the idea of SpeedyBleeders, I guess I tend to think that there may be some air going back in when there is no pressure pushing the fluid out, when you let up on the brake pedel.
But a lot of people love and use them.
I chose the Motive, I just hook it up and let it go, no pushing on the brake pedel and I can use it on my other GM cars, with adapters I could use it on Fords as well. (NOT)
I use 2 quarts of fluid, I guess that's a bit much, but when filling the Motive, I do not want to run out of fluid. I have used and gotten by with 1 quart and 1 pint, but I worry to much, I'm going with the 2 quarts. This is a disadvantage with the Motive, uses lots of fluid, without having to fill the Motive, 1 qt. should be enough.
I use Castrol GT LMA fluid. Not the highest boiling point, but close, but it's based on Vegatable oil and I think it's best for the rubber parts.
One way or another you should remove as much of the old fluid as possible from the Master cyl. because you do not want to push all that old fluid thru the system, get the turkey baster.
Maybe you won't use the Motive and maybe you won't use the Castrol, but use the turkey baster.
The turkey baster method is NOT a method to bleed your brakes, all the turkey baster does is remove a lot of old fluid from the Master Cly. so you don't have to pump that old fluid thru the system.
If you do what "rws.1" says, which is ONLY remove what is in the Master cly and replace with new fluid, using turkey baster, then yea, I guess this would work but I would think it would take months to replace only 75% of you old fluid.
If you do this then only buy the smallest amount of fluid as possible because brake fluid does not keep, it absorbes mositure from the air.
1 pint.

You have the link for their website. I'll most likely do it before winter.
