Default Callaway Short Shifter Problems!

I had my Callaway SHort-shifter installed on my 02' Z about 2 weeks ago. Now I have some weird noises coming from the shifter area at low RPMs when I first get into a Gear. Its like a scratchy whisle type noise. Has any one else had a similar problem w/ after market Short-shifters. The performance is in tact, and there doesnt seem to be any problems w/ the trans. its simply a noise. However, its very annoying.

To tell you the truth Im not exactly sure. I always ride w/ my windows down, and music. If not one always the other. However, I had to drive my mom somewhere the other day and I put up the windows, and she turned off the radio. Then I could finally hear the noise.

Mine is pretty quiet also. However, when I ran my car for an initial test after installing the shifter without either the shift boot or the lower shift boot in place there was a lot of transmitted noise. I wonder if some of this stuff could have slipped a little during the install on yours leaving a slight gap that could transmit noise. Or maybe the hole in the lower shift boot was cut too big. I would recheck the install of these softer components.

Aftermarket shifters are way noisier than stock ones. Less rubber parts for that positive feel means more mechanical noise gets to your ears. Some are used to it and some take counter measures like dynamat and rubber boots.

Yep! My B&M precision shifter is pretty noisy, but the performance is great!

My B&M is way to noisy , espically after the 402 went in, i'm getting rid of it, was thinking of the c6zo6 shifter, i heard it's really quiet!!! and the shifts are still short..
