I'd like for you to be "made whole" on this "negligent incident" and receive a correct, undamaged, exact match to the other 3 wheels, installed on your car with the utmost care and attention making you feel as comfortable as possible. NOTE; Your car should not be driven with any tire/wheel with ANY different diameter, offset, back spacing, tire width or runout. Doing so COULD damage the internal components of your differential. They owe you replacement transportation while the PROPER repairs are made to your car because of this mechanical probability of further damage to your car due to their incompetence. This should expedite the process. This is time for you to demand proper treatment in this matter or sue in small claims. I don't know exactly what these magnesium wheels are worth, but the figure should shock the manager of this shop. Hopefully someone with knowledge of their cost will post. I wish you the best outcome in this unfortunate but common occurrence in dealing with the so called "experts" we run into in performing maintenance on our cars.

The biggest ****-off was that *I* had to find this when I got home. I didn't trust them from the get-go so I'd snapped pics of all my wheels before I arrived at the dealership.

They bought me a new wheel and they let me take it to a new local tire specialist store with a fancy new $10k tire machine. They paid the bill.

Is yours a front or rear wheel? I know someone in MI with a load of brand new rear wheels selling for 25% of the normal price.
Front wheel. And surprise surprise...the tire store manager DID NOT call me today as he promised. Maybe he's trying to forget me. Yeah, that will happen. He must not be familiar with a redhead temper.

A 4 wheel alignment costs $60., and they mounted my tires on my polished 5 spokes, installed stick weights inside my rims instead of the stock hammer on weights, fixed a leaking TPS sensor, AND reprogrammed the TPS system for me. My cars always come back perfect! You need to do some research, car buffs are everywhere, there has to be competent people in your area! Also, look on Tire rack, they also list competent installers who will install tires they list. My Tire guy is listed as a delivery point and approved installer.

John
Sounds like you got lucky with your finding a competent place. I have used this tire place for years with no problems.........but the last vette they put runflats on only had the dreaded wagon wheels. Honestly, I didn't even bother to look to see if they nicked those!

Actually, the car is a 1999 and that particular upgraded option (mag wheels) was $3000 on that car. the cost came down some on newer models. You know, you bring up a great point about damaging the other parts if the temporary wheel isn't the same. Never thought of that. THANK YOU for that! I will bring that up to the manager of the tire store.
I appreciate the input.

This is one reason I haven't taken my -oh so slowly going flat- RR tire in. Possible damage would irritate me even more than the "gotta fill it up once a week or so because it drops 3-4 lbs" problem... Oh and like I've said before on here...(I think Patches does this too) I only take the wheel in after I take it off the car... crazy I KNOW but I just did this very same thing 2 months ago on my '94 F-150 with over 138K miles!! Took all 4 in for balancing!! In my 2006 Impala!! 2 at a time in the back seat!

Lol @ me...
At last, someone who's just like me. I just hate leaving any of my cars at the garage when work is needed, will always -if possible-do the work myself.

Discount Tire was the place who damaged the wheel. And the DID order me another and it will be in this week. Sooooooooooo.to show my appreciation for them being upstanding in making this right, I purchased another set of tires from them this afternoon for my daughter's car. Kudos to them for making it right.
