just bought a 2002 z06 and it as xr-1 longtube and a borla exhaust, it sounds perfect but there is a drone noise around the 2000rpm, maybe it is a stupid question but i am trying to learn as much as i can about my car. Is it normal? thanks
If it is bothersome to the point of irritation; get a trunk partition (available from many Forum Vendors, do a search) or install insulation (see tech assistance, or search Mike Mercury).
Based upon the setup you described, the drone sounds normal. I presume you have Borla Stingers. Borla Stingers have drone. Now, with headers, that drone is only amplified. If you don't like the drone (as I do), switch out your catback. That is, you can keep the headers, but replace the Borla Stingers. I had Borla Stingers and switched to Corsa Pace Car. I have headers and there is virtually no drone... I love it.

Put Ti's back on, it will cut out 90% of the drone
The drone was not bad with the stock manifold, x-pipe set up. After my header, x-pipe install. it got so annoying after that I took my stingers off and used my Titanium exhaust
I have Borla's on my car, they drone a bit around 15/1600 rpm but I don't mind it.
HOWEVER - I put a Corsa Pace Car cat back on a friends car a couple days back, I haven't had a chance to drive it but he tells me there is no drone at all at any speed!!
Myself, I'll take the drone and the excellent sound of the Borla's!!

If you are not running an X-pipe, you might want to give one a try. My exhaust had a terrible drone at about those rpms and after I installed an X-pipe, I'd say 95% of it went away.
