I have a 2000 c5 with the front z06 screens. Someone said I should get the gm z06 bra. Having trouble with the tabs around the screens. Has anyone else used the z06 bra? Can I just cut some of the tabs off? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
I'm not sure how the ZO6 differs from the reg gm bra which I have. I would be suprised if the ZO6 screens would make any difference on the reg bra. Can you tell us where the tabs are that is giving you problems?
I am interested to hear answers here also, just put a GM bra on and there are tabs to insert where Z-06 screens would be, mine is not a Z06, so I folded those tabs underneath. I would rather cut them off and reduce any chance of the tabs doing paint scuffing, but dont know if the wind would tend to lift it around the holes for the screens?
The above link may help. I would make sure that you do NOT have the z06 bra if your vette is not the z06. You want as tight a fit as possible so that you do not get any movement in the wind when the car is at speed. If it is the z06 bra, take it back and ask for the correct one.

I have a Z06 and GM bra, the screens on the z06 don't hold on by adhesive, they bolt to the bumper. Those tabs slide inbetween the plastic mounting plate of the screens and the bumper. You will need the coupe bra, the z06 won't work unless you want to buy actual z06 screens and ditch the foglights.

They are both made specifically for the model. Here's the look of a regular C5 GM Bra.
wouldn't the only difference be- the Z06 bra has the extra tabs for the screen area?
Mine has actual holes instead of the clear plastic, so why not just eliminate the tabs and have the openings "open"?

because air will get underneath the bra and flap against your paint without those tabs pressed inbetween the screens and bumper, with the coupe model air can't get under the bra because it's sealed. you'll ruin your paint underneath if you use the wrong bra, although the coupe bra would probably work on the Z06 better than the z06 would work on the coupe.

OK...that DOES make sense...I have a new GM bra that must be made for a Z06 then. Got it at a great price, which is why I jumped on it. Guess now I'll have to buy one for the Hardtop, non-Z06?

I also bought a GM Z06 bra for my Z16.
Those tabs just wouldn't fit in where the screens were. I actually knocked out one of the tabs that secure the screen to the car.
It was almost impossible to get that bra onto the car.
I then bought a C5 bra, and had absolutely no problems.
it came from here, so I'd rather not say....are you in the market?
no I have one, but I just wanted to let you know that new from gm they are under $100 so you should be able to resell the one you have and then buy a new one from GM.

I did the same thing, I only use the 2 bottom bolts for the screens now and my bra fits flawlessly. I think originally it had the 2 bolts and then some other types of clips.
so air is NOT needed to pass through these holes?
(sorry...new C5 owner)
not necessary no, it does not have any influence on your standard cooling which comes from underneath the car, z06's used this to cool down the engine compartment a bit. Now if you want to install a vararam intake and use a bra with maximum performance then I would recommend ditching the glue on screens for some bolt on screens and a z06 bra.
