Default CHEAP low profile floor jack?

Know of any that you could recommend?? saw one on ebay for $99 plus ship (3") and Sears has a (4") for $129 but I'm not sure if 4" is low enough...

Thanks! Andy

You can try Wally World. I got mine from there a few years ago. It was around $70 if I remember correctly. My Vette is lowered and I dont have to use 2x4's to roll it up on with this jack.

The Communist Red Chines Store (AKA Harbor Freight) sells a low profile jack that works great; check out their web site.

Wall Mart has the Black Jack (not all stores carry it). It is a heavy duty, commercial jack and goes down to 3.3 inches (up to 17.72 inches) and is a 3 Ton capacity. A very good jack for about $70.

Pep Boys carrys the Torin Big Red, goes down to 3,1/4", that is what I use and it works for my slammed coupe.

There is just steps you have to take for proper jacking, such as I have to jack up the rear first and put 2" planks I have for under the rear tires then this raises it enough to get the jack under the side rocker for the front tires to be raised.

Pep boys also carries a low profile aluminum racing type jack, but the one I bought only lasted couple months, this one I have now is working out much better, I do believe it was only 80-90 buks

I bought one from Harbor Freeight last Summer. I looked for one for months, and happened on this one while I was in the store looking for something else. It is only 3" high, and was on sale for $79.99 (from $99.99). I wouldn't have cared if it was twice that much my car is lowered to 3" and no other one I looked at would fit under the car. It's light, and works like a charm.

Dave.....you're scaring me :-)

No matter what your level of competency with the mechanical stuff, there is alwyas something you might wanna do that could require lifting the car. Oil changes are pretty simple and risk free, heck even cleaning/detailing the wheels.
Stuff like that

I bought a 3 ton big red jack from Pep Boys years ago (don't remember the price). When I bought my Vette, I couldn't fit it under the car because the cup on the end of the jack would hit stuff under the car. I showed my mechanic how it hit stuff and he pulled it from under the car, reached down and removed the cup, and slid it back under the car to the jacking point. Then he gave me that look like, "Don't quit your day job."

I had that jack for years and never new that damn thing came off! Man did I feel stupid. One thing I did buy (which I don't understand why more guys don't buy these instead of using wood) is some 8 ton ramps. They cost all of $30 at Pep Boys.

Thanks very much for the responses!!! I just want one so I can remove the wheels and clean them inside and out and also I was thinking about doing a rotor/pad replacement before too long. I'll check out the wal-mart jack, that's about what I would like to spend. I'm Vette-poor right now!! Ah. well at least I have one!!

I'm logged on under my wife's tag...

Thanks, Andy

I got a nice low profile professional type jack at Costco for under $100. Not made in China...it's hard to avoid Chinese stuff but try anyway.
