I look at these pics like the ones in whats ur dd ? And everyone looks well off. Anyone out there scrape kill and steal to get there first vette? I bought a 95 for $9000 - traded it in for $11000 and paid $4000 cash and financed $2000 more for a 98 c5 last year! Construction blows!!!
Hey get over the "wealthy" thang, buddy! Let me tell you, I am recently divorced and sometimes I feel like I am livin' on Top Raman Soup! Not everyone on here is pullin' money outta their A$$e$ so don't feel that way! I go on cruises with guys who have two 'vettes! One guy I know has a blown C-5 and a new C-6 and EVERY darned one of them are the nicest guys you would ever want to meet! Believe me in this, it's a 'vette thing. Just post some pictures so you don't get flamed here! Let's see your ride and don't forget the "wave" to your other 'vette buddies!

Personally - I waited until I was almost 50 to buy my first Corvette, and it was a six years old then. Before that - there was no way I could afford a luxury like a Corvette. I am very lucky to have a very supportive and understanding spouse that has done nothing but encourage my passion for the car. She loves it too, in a different way than me.
I'm not rich by any measure other than the people I've met through ownership of this car. I've said it dozens of times here, the best people I've ever met were the ones that I've met because of this car.
So don't worry about how everyone else got theirs, or how much money they have - everyone is here because of the love for the car......simple as that.
I know what you mean :-) I gotta wonder when I see the posts about "well I put the <insert $3000 wheels> on the car but I like these better" or the "as soon as my new garage has the second lift put in I think I'll do Long Tubes, a cam, and SC on the daily driver C5, I'll have to use the "quick" C5 to get around while I'm doing the work . . ." posts.
LOL I guess some here are more fortunate than others, good for them.
I dont however think that "most" are "rich" (comparitively.) It's the same phenomenon (s/p?) as the daily newspaper. If you read it you get the impression that there is a lotta death, doom and destruction going on, when it is really the case that the news prints "news" (not this guy helped out that guy or whatever); and the people post here when they have something "nice" to show.
Lest there be some doubt as to which side of the fence I happen to sit on, I'll add that I spent 27 years in civil service, you figure it out
Well, no one is living in a van down by the river, Dave
Vettes are expensive to buy and to own. Some folks stretch their pennies to drive the car of their dreams; others have two or three Corvettes (and houses). Just my opinion, but I really think you can wring some more enjoyment out of life when you drive the car you've wanted since you were a young boy. That is not tied to annual income.

I am sure there are some people on here that are well to do; but I think most of us are hard working normal guys that work hard for every dollar they earn!

Dang it! I feel like I need to be serious here.
OK, I am not rich either. I got my first Corvette, a 96 C4 when I was 46 years old. I paid it off on a 4 year note. I saved some money and traded that for my C5.
I financed the C5 and then got laid off from a job that I had for several years. I thought I may had to sell the C5, but instead I got lucky. I found a job right away and used my severance money to pay off my Vette so I could keep it forever! I also banked a bit and haven't had to dip into it.
I now have a job that I like much better. I get paid less, but I am happy and my car is paid for. I sometimes buy mods too.
i don't own a vette ... maybe never will, but hopefully will soon to answer your question, i am not rich - i do want to know how i stack up against everyone else as well though. in the end though, if you are buying a 20-25k vette, it is interesting to note that new saturns are going for about the same thing!
