Default engine swap suggestions

Looking to spend around 9-10k max for everything including all parts and labor necessary. I want to upgrade from my stock ls1 but reliability is my main concern. Not TOO worried about losing some mpg either. What do you all suggest?

Drop in a Stroker with some long tube headers, lots of good engine builders out there. LME out of Houston is supposed to do a awesome build, but then there are lots of good setups, I like my A&A built 346

I'm in So.Cal. and Houston is a bit of a stretch. I'll check out A&A. Basically what I'm looking for is around 400-450rwhp with a good amount of low end torque and a low compression so that i can go F/I later if i choose to. Top speed is not much of a concern to me either. Should I wait for the LS3 pricing to come out first before deciding?

Think about a LS6 Crate engine. . . it's a direct swap. No new wiring harness required. Will run on stock ECM tune (get engine retuned for MAX Performance). May have to use your old LS1 Oil Pan. . . (a lot of LS6 405hp Crate Engines) come setup for Camaros with a Camaro or STS Oil Pans. If your "Crate Engine" is setup for a F-Body you'll have to swap out the "input shaft bearing". This is not a big deal. You just need to know that's before you start the swap.

So, if you use the LS6 405hp Crate Engine you may need to use your old oil pan (if Crate Engine is Set up for F-Body) and change out the "Input Shaft Bearing". Other than that it's pretty much a "Snap" Swap Job.

getting my 408 assembled this week and should be installed by next week. depending on the mods and the parts you are buy it might cost you a little more than 10k. my setup is running about 10k and i still need to get injectors and a fast 90. i wasnt really planning on doing this right now but the timing chain broke on my motor.

With you wanting to go FI, my little ole A&A built 346 puts down 0ver 700 rwhp, so you can save some bucks and purchase one of A&A's forged LS6's like I did and be happy

Foo King Z06 - Sweet car! I hadn't seen it before on here. What was the total cost of your 402 swap? PM me if you don't want to post it.

Doesn't the LS2 have a better torque curve than the LS6?
