Shut it down and put to bed running just fine...the next morning I started it up and immediately the check engine light came on and it was running really rough, wouldn't even idle. Drove it to the dealer 3 blocks away.
At 2500 RPM it sounded allot better...kinda like a fouled plug ya know.
Of course the first thing the dealer mech. did was check the codes....several of the same one "cylinder misfire...all 8 of em.
They have had my car all day today and still haven't come up with any answers....they did replace the plugs because they were all really black...anybody got any ideas? Other than a different dealer :D
If it was only one cylinder I would look at the injector to see if its pulsing correctly with a noid light, if it is, check the injector to see if the pintle is stuck open and letting fuel run into that one cylinder.
Also when the problem is corrected make sure you change the oil.
You don't want that fuel soaked oil in the crank case at all.
All cylinders would missfire if you had one injector dumping the fuel, it would cause the others to be lean missfiring and one would be rich along with the O2 sensors being confused.
Sounds logical...I hope the guy working on mine has a clue... seems to me that all this equipment should have straightforward and scientific trouble shooting procedures...
I do appreciate your help White_98
Day 2 and still no fix....
I went in to the shop after work today and they had it in pieces,
valve cover...rocker arms...injectors..etc. prob looked worse than it was
The dealer said everything checks fine...GM tech told them to replace the MAF even though it looked ok  and they aren't willing to buy the MAF...I told them to put everything back together and I'll pick it up tomorrow...Just got off the phone with the LAPD and a new Granatelli MAF will be here Next day...bad bad dealer... :cuss
Wellll it wasn't the MAF...I just finished installing the LAPD Granatelli MAF
and still have the same problem...at least I have a new mod
Time to have it flat bedded to my dealer far far away...
:cry :cry :cry
"Performed vacuum test. Only 8 inched of vacuum
Number 4 cylinder has no compression.
Tech 2 indicates all cylinders misfiring.
All indications at present are engine has been overreved
And valves have floated.
Spoke with district service manager for General Motors.
And General Motors has declined warranty repairs due to
Driver error. November 12, 2001." Unquote.
The dealer told me that tech support said that I down shifted
Causing the RPM to exceed 7300.... floating the valves.
And that is the only scenario that fits...
All I can say guys is...that did not happen...and I don't really like
Being called a liar...
:bs
Hmmmmmmmm..............
Put er' to bed, running fine..............
Reckon the tooth fairy, and the sand man did some "Overtime", while you slept.........funny, never thought they bent valves??????
Too bad man, sorry to hear you get to bite the big one.. :cry
