Default Key Fob

I am having issues with my remote. I replaced the battery and then my key fob stopped working. I retrained the FOB. but it will only work for a few minutes. I tried after it stopped working to hold the lock and unlock next to the door and it will start working again. but again only for a few more minutes. Have any of you had this same problem and was it the key fob or something else??? And BTW...if you believe it is the key fob and you have one for sale for a 2000. let me know, Thx....Jimmy

I knew before I looked at your profile you had a 2000. There have been a bunch of posts lately with 2000 year fobs doing exactly what yours is. If you search, you'll find that almost all had to buy a new fob. You need one for the 2k year only and it will cost about 80 to 100 bucks. The 98/99 will work on your car, but the passive feature won't work. Don't get the 2001 and up. They cost much less, but won't program for yours. If you've reprogrammed thru the DIC and also tried resynching by holding the lock & unlock till a honk, I'm afraid you need a new fob.

You can try cleaning the battery contacts and the contacts under the rubber buttons with contact cleaner and a cotton swab, but most likely you need to buy a new fob.

Been there, done that.

The good news is the new fob has better range, so you don't need to be standing within a foot of the door to unlock or lock.

I know the price is painful, but it is money well spent.

Default Same here

Hey friends,
I have the same problem with mine. I bought the car almost a year ago (best year of my life thus far! ) and have had the same problem with my 2000. The one I got with the car crapped out after a month, then I bought a used one from the bay and within a couple months had the same problem and now it doesn't work at all. I just ordered a new one...lets hope that fixes it! I must say its embarrasing to have such a nice car and then can't open the door for your date!

Default Some are good some are not

Got 3 fobs from fleebay for my 98 C5. One is actually for a 00. The thing you need as FCCID AB00216T. If you get a 97-99 fob just IGNORE the passive fn switch and leave it off to increase your battery life. All 3 of mine are still GOING. BIGHANK

Mine did the same thing earlier this year. Ended up getting a new fob, retrained it and not a problem since.
