all non-z06/frc (fixed roof coupe) had the rear window hatch. 97-04, all of them. all Z06's had a FRC and some 98/99 models were a FRC too. They were supposed to be a cheaper version of the C5 originally

The rear hatch opening started with the late model C3s. Not sure exactly what year, but it started in the late 70s or early 80s. All cars that were not convertibles or fixed rood coupes have it.

The C5s had fixed roof coupes in 99 and 2000, which evolved into the Z06 which is also a fixed roof coupe in 2002 through 2004.

Hope this information helps.

The 1982 Collector Edition was the first model with an opening hatchback if I remember correctly.
