Nice Chip!! You could option it to death but one thing I always love is when you take a nicely turned part and then sand the end (or face) of it on 320 paper 'til it's nice and smooth for a brushed look on the face. It just contrasts the turned look enough to look very to me. Also, I like the idea of engraving the face too, maybe with corvette logo's etc, whatever. But does that mean trademark infringment problems? Whatever you do, they look very neat!!
You could anodize them in different colors too. (If aluminum) If steel, powdercoat!! Either way, colorcoat, then engrave, then clearcoat over the engraving to protect that exposed surface...
Too many options make it a pita for you though... Cool no matter what!!

The etching is a great idea but you just have to watch out from big brother on some things.
