i have tried to put my 2000 into competition mode with no success. the manual says hold down traction control for 5 seconds or more and the display light should go off, never happens. my buddys 2002's display changes to "competition mode". the ignition is on and the car is not moving. can anyone help? thanks andy
I'm not 100% sure, but this may not have been an option on all 2000's. Can someone chime in here, I seem to recall that the traction assist changed at some point.
You might not have it. Check the glove box for the RPO code. I cant remember off the top of my head which one it is. Someone will chime in. It was an option from 98-00. 01 and up it is standard.
When you say the "ignition is on"....is the car running? Try starting the car, putting it in gear and then doing it without moving.........and yes, the active handling option is, I think, needed ...........
This probably won't help, especially if you do not have the active handling option, but my '04 takes longer than five seconds to go into 'competition mode'; it takes closer to six or seven seconds and the car has to be running. On mine, I can enter 'competition mode' with the car stopped or running.
In 2000 you had to order the Z51 Performance Handling Package to get it.
No - you had to order RPO JL4, Active Handling. As stated in an earlier post, check the codes on the sticker in the glovebox. If JL4 is not listed, you don't have the Active Handling option.
my car does not have the active handeling and its a 99 if you hold the button down for 5-10 seconds it shows up on the display where the odometer would read out

Requires the active handling system which was a $500 add on for the 2000 model year........
With what he said
COMPETETIVE DRIVING mode, means Traction Control OFF, Active Handling ON, SO obviously if your car is not equipped with A/H, you will never find COMPETETIVE DRIVING mode
