Thinking of painting my fuel rail covers a really nice red with black CORVETTE letters similiar to the way the Z06 ones are. Only thing i wanted to do diff is possibly put a shine on them using clear coat or something. Anyone expierience with this at all or have any info on this? I know how to do it but dont want the red or the clear to fade at all because of the heat under the hood.
I ordered a spray can each of LMB and clear from my local GM dealer when I did mine last April. So far no problems. I forget exactly, but I know it was less than $15 for both cans and a perfect match.

I put clear coat on my C4 covers and never had a problem. I plan on doing the same for the C5. You could always use high temp clear if you're worried about it.
didnt even realize they made high temp clear, where can you find that?...any local auto parts store?...or u got to order it special? Anyone have any pics of the C5 ones they did on there vette? The yello looks awesome btw
I've also wondered what difference it would make and how they'd look if sanded smooth
versus the textured surface before the paint job. Anyone tried that and how did it turn out?

Yep, your local auto parts store should have it right next to the engine paint spray cans.

See mine above. I sanded them, then used an adhesion promoter, then primer, sand, paint, wet sand, and clear.
yeah, and it took forever!!! honestly, you just have to take your time. make sure to prep the surface!!! if there is oil it won't stick and you'll have the orange peel look. letters and stripes were done with black touch up paint, FYI. the whole process took about three days to do.
