I saw a radar detector bracket that was glued into the back of the rear view mirror instead of screwed in or glued at the bottom. My fellow club member forgot where he ordered it. West Coast and Mid america have them from the bottom.
I have and love the bracket from great lakes trophy. I have told several people about their website and they have said they could not find it? I just googled great lakes trophy and it was right there. Check it out. Add an invisicord and you have the best set up going.
What is that? I'm running an escort 8500 X50, and the cord is the reason I have it suction cup mounted to the bottom of the winshield. Can u elaborate please?
Cheers

I went to a fair amount of trouble to connect my RD to the back of the mirror only to discover that this caused it to turn off and on everytime someone opened a door. Only a few threads on this mirror connection idea warn of this shortcoming. I realize this doesn't bother some people. It bothered me, so I had to connect it to the passenger footwell wires that were provided expressly for powering such accessories.

I also hard-wired my detector into the mirror power wires, and my detector only turns off when shifting into reverse. No biggie, and free. I also made a bracket out of a metal strip originally used to operate a bathroom sink stopper. Just painted it flat black, and bent to fit. Used a short sheet metal screw to attach it to the bottom of the mirror mount. Also free. Very clean, and simple to do.
Got any pics or tips for the wiring hook up? I am about to try this on my Z06
I forget which one I used for power, brown, I think, and one of the black ones for ground. Used a cheapo multi-tester to find power/gnd. If I had to do it over, I'd check for a power wire that doesn't disconnect when shifting into reverse, but it still has to be ignition controlled.
got my bracket from vettemods saturday just in time for our sunday cruise. another question, installed the bracket from WCC on my dad's vert, but the factory bracket for the 8500 doesn't fit. the instruction showed a hole in the middle of the bracket, but the one we got only have two holes on the side and not in the middle.
