Default Headlight motors interchangeable????

Replaced my stripped gear on my passenger headlight motor and in my not so infinite wisdom put the outside drive in backwards. Yes, it is already epoxied back together. It appears the drivers side looks just like what I created. I haven't taken off the driver's side because I was going to wait awhile before I "fixed" it. My question is instead of tearing this one apart and since I plan on replacing the gear on the driver's side, can I install my passenger side headlight motor on the driver's side since the drive is reversed or is there something about the right side that will prevent it from fitting properly? Thanks for anyone's help.

This might work in theory, but haven't heard of anyone reporting on this. But I did both of mine last year and from what I remember, I would think it will work. Just make sure the next one you do is also reversed. You can be the first on this one.

I plan on doing the deed this week. I'll let you know if it worked or if I had to punt and change the passenger side motor.

To answer my own question, yes the motors are interchangeable - all you have to do is reverse the shaft that tie in to the linkage that raises and lowers the lights. Any one else with this experience.

Well, I chickened out on the backwards installing of the rotor shaft because when looking at the motor casings one was clearly labled left hand and one right hand. So I took the right hand one apart again and assembled it like it was originally. Also the shaft did not stick out of the case as far when reversed as the other unit did. Glad I backed out.

The motors themselves may theoretically be interchangable, but they have different electrical connections. You did the right thing by just biting the bullet and cracking the case open and re-gluing it
