For those who have a four post lift. How high are your ceilings in your garage. I am thinking about buying one of these and want to know if my 9ft ceilings will give me enough cleanance to work with. Thanks for the help!
You should be able to contact the company selling them....They should have all the specs on them....I wouldnt see why it wont fit....The one problem you might have is the garage door though

I think i am ok with the door part as I can set it back far enough in the garage to take car of that problem. I will have to make a call. Thanks for the input
I have a 10'6" ceiling. I can park my 64 coupe with the lift fully raised and park my Mercedes sedan under, with 8" clearance. With my second lift, I park my 56 on top with the lift locked in 5" from the top lock and park my C5 under it, with 11" clearance. My ceiling could be 8" lower and I still could park all my cars but would have to stoop a little more when changing the oil.

I'm about 65 miles from you. Come over and see my lift under an 11' ceiling. Plenty of room for a 6' person to stand up staight below the 1999.
Leave the Bears support at home, though.

Pick up copy of this magazine. Whole issue dedicated to Garages. Has sweet example of a guy with TWO 4 post lifts in his three car garage. Talks about gaining usable height by using different types of garage doors and lifts. Be careful though, lots of desirable projects!

When I was looking for my lift everybody said a minimum of 10 feet. I did some very careful measuring and found that I could put my 65 on the lift and my 02 under the lift with a 9' - 8" ceiling. I don't think a 9 foot ceiling will work.

Doubt if a 9' ceiling will be enough. The formula is...height of top car + height of bottom car + 6" (for travel between lock points) + 2-3" (depending which model you get) for ramp height.
If you put a C5 at 44" with about any other car...let's say average 52"-58" (conservatively), you're pushing the clearance.
The guy that sold me mine said that he wouldn't recommend one with any less than 10'. I have 11'6", and am stacking Vettes, so it wasn't an issue.
Thanks for the disapointment guys.....I guess I have to break the bad news to the wife we need to move and build another house cause our garage ceilings are not high enough
Think this will fly?

A garage with only 9' wall height will allow for a four post lift (80-90" post height), but you won't be able to lift to full working (standing) height. I know many guys who have four post lifts in their small tract homes with 9' wall height.
You could use a shop roller stool or old office chair beneath the lift. You wouldn't be able to park another car under it. It won't be as convenient or comfortable to work under. A KWIK LIFT might be an option (use a floor creeper), or the frame hydraulic lifts are also popular (lift about 36", but undercarriage isn't as accessible).
I have a four post BEND PAK HD9 with 12'4" wall height. When I put my Trailblazer or Silverado on my lift, I can't lift to full working height, so I use an old office chair.
We built our new home around the shop dimensions and it still isn't large enough. http://s114.photobucket.com/albums/n...Z16/my%20shop/

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
