Well, decided to defunk the outside of the radiator yesterday. Used a shop vac, then a hose to wash thru the crud. I also rinsed off the lower control arms becuase of some pebbles & debris. Did NOT get any water up top at all. The car now runs like ****. Idle is lower, and when you hit the gas to rev, there is hesitation and sounds "muffled". It is VERY odd, the car when running sounds quiet, subdued. It is so hard to explain. Driving it home I could tell it wasn't right. Like I said, lower idling rpm's, can almost hear a slight miss when accelerating. Overall lack of power.
What I did to fix it:
First off, NO codes were present.
Removed and cleaned MAF
Disconnected battery to relearn
Made sure all connections were tight/correct.
Still not running right.
Did I accidentally get water on something down below?
Vinny, Sounds like you've got a vacuum leak. I chased this same gremlin last week after changing plugs. It progressively got worse over 5 days until the car barely ran.
I took a can of TB cleaner and started chasing vacuum lines. I found the hose from the PCV to the TB had a hole big enough to put my finger in. Of course it was on the bottom side where I coludn't see it and continued to get bigger over time. Changed the hose, all better. Drove me nuts.
