Yes and no.... 
I have gotten a chip since removal... but it was due to the commercial dumba$$'s illegal aliens these lawn service business hire and think it is totally ok to blow all the dirt and debris in the parking lot right up against millions of dollars worth of vehicles in the lot. Yep blowing rocks and crap at 250mph won't hurt the finish.

BSM is not for me, but I'm not one to criticize anyone else's preference.
I understand that they are fairly simple to remove and as I recall, there are instructions at www.removeyourgheyassbsm.com

Reasons to dump the BSM's
Wayne if your going to be putting on side skirts and brake ducts, I think you should really dump the BSM's. They will only take away from the look of the skirts and ducts. You want the body mods to be noticed, not the body moldings. Just my .02.
