CLB from a vendor is the way to go, however prior to my install I was able to get around the message twice by disconnecting the battery. The message once was still active after reconection but once I pulled the key it went away only to resurface at the worst time.
Damn, I'd buy you a beer if I knew where you are. Too bad they don't have PayPal for beers. You could go to your local watering hole and just get your beer. We could call it BeerPal!

try removing fuse #25 or 26 in the fuse block on the passenger floorboard. The correct fuse will turn off the dome lamps. Leave it out for 30 seconds and reinstall. Sometimes this will reset the lock, if not have it towed to the dealer. should be under warranty still. they have a special policy on the column lock failure, call and ask..
I had the same problem. I also tried every method used and suggested in this post. They didn't work. The following will work when all else fails.
You will need a CLB to prevent the fuel from being shut off even if the column should unlock. Once that is installed loosen the two torx screws under the steering column. Separate the cover pieces enough to slip a long thin screwdriver in. Place the screwdriver on the locking pin (located lower right hand side of column. With a hammer tap the pin and then use the 12 volt adapter supplied with the CLB. This shoould unlock. Good luck and take your time. DO NOT HAVE IT TOWED!!!!!!
