Finally got around to installing the power antenna conversion on my '01 Z06. I did the wife's 2000 FRC some time ago , ladies 1st I suppose.
I used the Mid America's FRC power antenna conversion 607083 with little suprise at the completion. Also included the manual bye pass switch since I hardly ever use the radio ( also a Mid America item # 061-252).
I have disliked that aerial sticking out since day one. Now I have to patch the hole in Z06's car cover.
Anyway , sure improves the hardtop's lines.

How difficult was the install? I, like the others, have hated that thing since the very first day and REALLLY want to put a power antenna on her.
I have one too... installed it, but never wired it. Gets reception fine w/ the antenna down and now that I have XM I never use it anyway. It really fixes the lines of the car.
I've just unscrewed the stupid stock antenna, just have the threaded base sitting there.
Get a black rubber vacum line cap from any auto parts store to put over the threads. It looks like it came there. I still get reception, but listen to CD's the most. Don
A 10 being the most difficult , I give it a 2. The instructions ( w/ pictures, thanks God) are easy to follow. The most difficult part for me personally since I'm 56 y/o ,6'2" 240, is getting on my knees to access the passengers side toe board electrical center. Ugh.... no, getting up from there was the most difficult. I miss my Rotary hoist.
The instruction sheet said two hours for the competent mechanic, but it took me less than that being this was my second time installing one.
Eckler's power antenna kit( $165) is the same as Mid America's power antenna kit ($199) . So shop around for the best price.
Anyway s , that thing ain't stickin up in the back now. http://content.madirect.com/pdf/607083.pdf
