I have a problem with my directionals on my C5 2000 vette. Sometimes the directional will not work. I did a little investigating and I also note that when I put on my 4 way flashers they to do not act correct, they flash fast then slow etc.
Could my problem be as simple as I need a new flasher ? Or should I look at other things, like a short ?
My 2004 C5 front right turn indicator will not flash sometimes. The first time it happened was 2 years ago, then just yesterday it did it again. I turn off the ignition and turn it back on and then it flashes..Go figure. And people make fun of lucas.
Its working now so I will not go looking for the problem until its solid and ocurrs more than once in two years.
This is a very common rpoblem in the C5 generation vette. The hazard switch is going bad. Order a new one from one of the supporting vendors. The part itself is cheap, however, the entire dash has to come out to replace it. Some people on the forum have managed to replace the switch without removing the dash but i cant seem to find how they did it. I think Englandgreen may have been the person to do it. Anyway...i simply switched it out while i was completing my HUD install since the dash was out anyway...

Buy the new switch first so you can look at it and tell exactly how it attaches. Then remove the radio bezel and radio. At that point you can release one of the switch catches from inside the radio cavity and pop the switch out the back. Fish the new one in and it will pop into place. No need to remove the entire dash. A couple of good dental picks are invaluable here.
